The 19th of August is marked as a World Humanitarian Day. There are a number of people who worked towards the betterment of the humanitarian causes and they did so without taking the permission of anyone. They worked tirelessly so that the world of humanitarians can live better and with much more faith in each other. Their prime objective was always to help people with whatever good they had and they died doing so. To remember their sacrifices and promote their givings, World Humanitarian Day is celebrated all across the world.

This U.N. sanctioned holiday is celebrated so that the people can get to know more about the activities related to humanitarian assistance. They wanted people to know, how they can help each other all across the globe to solve the problems related to each other’s lives. History

It all started in December 2008, when the General Assembly of the United States announced the beginning World Humanitarian Day. It was established with the prime objective of bringing the countries together to get rid of the issues related to the humanitarian concern. The date of 19the August was chosen to celebrate this day and the main reason behind this day was because around 20 people died because the Canal Hotel located in Baghdad was bombed. Among those 20 people, the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nation and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General to Iraq were also dead. This literally shook the entire world and humanitarians. To fight against these kinds of issues led to the rise of World Humanitarian Day.

August 19th, 2009 was marked as the date when the World Humanitarian Day was celebrated officially. And working on this special cause to curb all humanitarian related issues, there are a number of people who have lost their lives. Presently, the facts say there are more 120 million people still fighting with a number of issues and are in crisis. They need help and the world needs to stand up for them. They need the support of humanitarian services because of the loss they have faced due to natural disasters. From food to water to make sure that they have complete medical facilities, everything needs to be taken care of.
